Why did I create True Root?

Without sound management, it is estimated that 70% of wealthy families will lose their wealth by the second generation and 90% will lose it by the third generation¹. That’s why the ultra-wealthy surround themselves with an army of advisors, attorneys and accountants and become even wealthier as a result.

In contrast, the rest of the population spends a disproportionately little amount of time and resource managing their money.

With the mission of democratizing investing and financial planning, I started a blog in 2019. Through this blog, I connected with many people from all walks of life and income sizes and felt there was a real need for tailored, one-on-one advice.

How is True Root different?

So many traditional firms are catering to older generations and to people who already have piles of cash. These firms are often selling products with a huge commission or hidden fee. On the other end, there are robo-advisors selling automated one-size-fits-all portfolios. But none of these firms provide tailored and comprehensive advice on your money unless you’re a high-net-worth person.

They will tell you what to invest in but will leave it up to you to decide which savings vehicle to use or which tax planning strategy to take advantage of or which risks to avoid. These planning decisions are pivotal in achieving your goals and they have to work in lock-step with your investments.

True Root was born to provide tailored advice to you in all aspects of your life concerning money. We do not make commissions on any products and there are no hidden fees.

Why the name, True Root?

What I love about what I do is the tangible impact I make on people’s lives. To make this kind of impact in someone’s life, we root our work in deep, rigorous and time-tested research. Although we are a modern firm, we stick to proven, evidence-based methods and we are conservative when needed. We are here to encourage you and cheerlead you to success but we will always show you things as they are in reality, even when it does not paint the prettiest picture.

Money by itself doesn’t mean anything if you’re not able to create the life you want to live with it. With a strong financial core, you will be able to create the life you want for yourself. This is your true root.

More about me…

I was fortunate to have been born in Nepal, where I also grew up and left to come to the US for college many years ago. I am an avid traveler and reader of both fiction and non-fiction. To me, travel does not only mean traveling to new places but could also mean a new experience, a new idea or a new worldview.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems from Brigham Young University and an MBA from McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.
